A historic milestone for the province's creative industry: Nampula now has the first professional recording studio in northern Mozambique. The 4.5 million meticais investment strengthens the city's position as the region's cultural and economic hub.
The opening ceremony was attended by artists, business people and representatives of the provincial government. Until now, the province's musicians had to travel to Maputo or Nampula city to record in professional conditions.
What changes for artists
The studio opens its doors to bands, DJs and traditional groups who until now recorded in poor conditions. The province's live music scene — from Marimbas to the Tufo groups — thus gains infrastructure it was missing.
