Nampula is the main transport hub of northern Mozambique. There are four ways in — air, road, rail and sea — and Nampula city is the natural starting point for the rest of the province.
By air
Nampula International Airport receives domestic flights from Maputo, Beira and Pemba. It is about 5 km from the city centre.
A direct Lisbon–Nampula route has been announced, with four weekly flights, cutting travel time from Europe to under ten hours.

By car
Nampula city is connected by road to the main destinations in the province. Reference distances from the provincial capital:
By train and by boat
The Nacala corridor links Nacala's deep-water port to the interior of southern Africa, including Malawi. The Port of Nacala is also a cruise stop, and is expanding.
Getting around the province
Away from the main routes, many roads are dirt and become difficult in the rainy season, from December to April. For coastal destinations and the islands, the most practical option is to arrange a transfer with your accommodation.
